Karen Astringer-Peters, M.S., L.M.H.C., N.C.C.
President/CEO
Licensed Mental Health Counselor
National Certified Counselor

Karen’s approach to treatment includes addressing the symptoms which led the client to seek treatment, as well as discovering and working on the root cause of the problem to promote resolution and lasting change. Karen’s clinical orientation draws upon a variety of techniques based upon both theory and experience, including applied behavior analysis, cognitive-behavioral, and systemic approaches.  These as well as other techniques are tailored to form a client-centered approach to counseling.  Karen also strongly believes in addressing problems or potential problems proactively, and focuses efforts on prevention and education in the community, as well as with the individuals and families we serve. Karen’s areas of clinical focus include working with adults, children, adolescents, and families on a variety of problems.  With an individualized treatment approach tailored to meet the needs of the client, issues including, but not limited to, depression, anxiety, domestic violence, adjustment disorders, attention deficit disorders, developmental disabilities, abuse and neglect, adoption, behavioral challenges, parenting, and self-esteem can be effectively addressed.

Karen’s education includes a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Central Florida and a M.S. in Counseling and Psychology from Troy State University.  Karen is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, a National Certified Counselor, and a Florida Board Qualified Supervisor for Mental Health Counselors. Karen is also a Certified Quality Auditor.  Karen’s professional associations include the American Counseling Association, National Board for Certified Counselors, and the University of Central Florida Alumni Association.  Karen also has served on the Board of Directors of the Oviedo-Winter Springs Regional Chamber of Commerce and on the Board of Directors of the Rotary Club of Winter Springs.  Karen opened Resilience Counseling Center in January 2008.

Christine Braun, M.S.
Registered Mental Health Counseling Intern

Chris has over twelve years of experience in helping people, in corporate, church, and clinical settings. Christine uses her high energy and sense of humor to bring healing and hope to the clients she serves.  Chris works with adults, adolescents, children, families, and couples.  She has a passion to assist those who find themselves at a crossroad and unable to experience hope.  Chris has the ability to see in others what they are unable to see for themselves.  The confidence and abilities she sees in others allows them to develop self confidence and as a result the desire to make changes which leads to healing and hope for the future. Chris excels at coming up with innovative solutions which help people live with less pain and heal families.  She is comfortable working with people of all ages.


Chris has a B.S. degree from the University of Central Florida, and a M.S. in Counseling Psychology degree from Palm Beach Atlantic University, Orlando campus.  She is a Registered Mental Health Counseling Intern, which means that she is working toward her licensure hours. Chris joined the Resilience Team in 2009. 

 
Erin Gray, M.S.

Erin has over 13 years in the non-profit field helping individuals in need. Erin has experience working for hospitals, working with people with developmental and physical disabilities, working with the homeless, and experience with helping those in need of mental health treatment. Erin has a good sense of humor and strong creativity, and that helps the therapeutic process through her ability to offer her clients creative ways to look at and deal with their personal challenges. Erin has a passion for helping others and enjoys being a part of the Resilience team where her personal and professional experience can be a benefit to others.


Erin has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of Central Florida and an Master of Science degree in Counseling Psychology from Troy University. Erin joined the Resilience Team in 2011.

 

Jennifer Evans, M.S.W., L.C.S.W.
Licensed Clinical Social Worker

 

 Jennifer has over 12 years of experience working in managed care, community agencies, and school settings.  She believes in empowering others to achieve their goals through Strengths-Based practices and Client-Centered approaches.  Jen has worked with populations of all ages addressing issues such as depression, anxiety, trauma, domestic violence, and behavioral problems.  She has received extensive training in working with child victims of sexual abuse.   With her welcoming attitude, Jen creates a safe environment to allow the process of healing and growth. 


Jennifer's education includes a B.S. degree in psychology, and B.S.W. and M.S.W. degrees from Florida State University.  She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a state of Florida Board Qualified Supervisor for Social Workers.  Jen joined the Resilience Team in 2011.

 

 

 Dr. Miguel Morales
 Dr. Morales is a Board-Certified Psychiatrist that joined the Resilience Team in 2010.  He is available to meet with our Medicaid clients, and sees all other patients in his office in Oviedo. 

Patricia Reed
Pat Reed is our exceptional Adminsitrative Assistant.  She joined Team Resilience in 2011, and provides support to Mrs. Peters,  and assists all of our clients and clinicians with scheduling, insurance authorizations, and more.
