Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern

Ashley Pic.jpg

Ashley has several years of experience working with children (ages 3+), teens, young adults, and LGBT+ clients. She is a master's level counselor and has worked in preschool, college, and community based settings.

Ashley believes that children are highly resilient, creative, and perceptive: instinctively shaping their behaviors, beliefs, and personality to adapt to their environment and ensure their basic needs are met. Sometimes, this complicates the parenting process as adults must also manage their own needs, reactions, and responsibilities to the outside world. Therapy helps bridge the gap between these distinct points-of-view to teach family members how to better communicate, problem-solve, and overcome obstacles together.

Ashley's counseling approach blends aspects of narrative therapy, acceptance-commitment therapy, mindfulness, and cognitive-behavioral therapy to help clients navigate difficult stages and situations in life. She typically treats clients experiencing adjustment issues, anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, sexual assault, ADHD, low self-esteem, and academic-related concerns. Ashley also has extensive experience in career counseling, trauma-focused therapy, and working with the LGBT+ community.

Ashley has a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Rollins College. Ashley joined the Resilience Counseling Team in Winter Haven in 2016.
